Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome

Short-nosed dogs face various upper airway problems. A brachycephalic breed may experience partial obstruction of the upper airway due to physical characteristics.

Symptoms

  • Snoring
  • Rapid breathing
  • Difficulty eating/ swallowing
  • Coughing
  • Inability to perform physical activity.

Causes

It is caused by the unique shape of the dog’s head.

Treatments

Treatment is not necessary unless the dog is showing clinical signs.
