Osteoarthritis

This is when there is a progressive deterioration of the cartilage surrounding the joints. Arthritis is the medical term for inflammation of the joints, while osteoarthritis is referring to a form of chronic joint inflammation caused by the deterioration of joint cartilage.

Symptoms

  • Limping
  • Reduced activity
  • Stiffness
  • Difficulty getting up
  • Lameness

Causes

There is no known cause for primary DJD. Secondary DJD causes can include long-term wear and tear on the joints,
a congenital defect
or obesity.

Treatments

There is no known cure, however you can try preventing it through diet, exercise, and the use of joint supplements.
